OUR MISSION
Our ultimate goal is to create a world where every animal has a loving family that cherishes them and treats them with the care and respect they deserve.
WHO ARE WE?
Established 2008, LEAPS is a registered, non-profit animal welfare organisation.
We are dedicated to helping animals in need in the areas of Elands Bay, Lamberts Bay and Vredenburg (220km from Cape Town up the West Coast).
WHAT WE DO
Our purpose is to make sure all animals have a loving home that will make them feel safe, valued and loved. We do this through the following services.
EDUCATE
Educating township and rural community pet owners to better care for their pets, and assist with the medical needs of the animals.
RESCUE & REHABILITATE
Rescuing and rehabilitating unwanted/homeless animals and ensuring they receive any needed vet care, including vaccinations and sterilisation.
REHOME
Rehoming animals to their new families and forever homes after the potential family completed and passed the adoption screening process.
ADOPT & FOSTER
We are a foster-based organisation and have no shelter.
That means we need volunteers to care for any unwanted animals while we find a suitable home for them.

DONATE & SUPPORT
Supporting LEAPS through donations or attending events is a meaningful way to contribute to the organisation's important work and help make a positive impact in the lives of the animals we are dedicated to help.
DONATIONSAs an organization, we rely solely on the generosity of our supporters to carry out our mission. We do not receive any financial support from the South African government, either at the local or central level. Therefore, every single donation we receive, regardless of its size, is crucial to our ability to make a positive impact in the communities we serve. Whether it's a one-time donation or a recurring contribution, each gift helps us to provide essential services and support to those in need. We are deeply grateful to all of our donors for their kindness and generosity, and we remain committed to using their contributions to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

LAMBERTS BAY FARMER'S MARKET & KIRSTENBOSCH MARKETWe have a stand and adoption days at the Farmers Market at Malkoppan, South of Lamberts Bay, on the last Saturday of every month. We are also at the Kirstenbosch Craft Market every last Sunday of the month from October to May. LEAPS volunteers are on hand to provide information about the adoption process, and to answer any questions potential adopters may have. This initiative not only helps animals find homes, but it also creates awareness about the importance of animal welfare in the community.

MADIBA DAY: PET FOOD DRIVEMandela Day, also known as Madiba Day, is celebrated annually on July 18th in honor of Nelson Mandela's legacy and his commitment to promoting peace, social justice, and equality. As part of the Madiba Day tradition, LEAPS hosts the Madiba Day Pet Food Drive. This initiative aims to collect and distribute pet food to support the well-being of animals in need. By donating pet food, individuals can make a positive impact on the lives of animals while honoring the values and principles of Nelson Mandela.
